Background

P. Chan’s art career began when he swam from China to Hong Kong.

It was 1976 when P. Chan decided to escape communist China in search of freedom and a better life in Hong Kong.

The journey took him 3 days and he carried nothing but a bag of pepper to keep himself warm and some bread to appease hunger. With nothing to his name, he began making a living that barely covered his rental by doing live sketches on the street.

Slowly, he began selling his art in different galleries and became a professional artist. He has participated in many joint and one-man exhibitions in Canton and Hong Kong. Most of the compositions of his works describe his love for old fishing villages and personage.

He currently lives in Perth, Australia and continues to express and celebrate freedom through art.

Please feel free to leave a message or arrange an art viewing if you’re in Perth.
